Sandy foraminifera can be found almost everywhere in the white sandy beach of Penghu. It is an ancient creature that began to appear in the sea 1.6 to 5 million years ago. Sandy foraminifera is also known as star sand because its shell shape is reminiscent of starsthe sun. The star sand present in Penghu coast is the shellor fossil left over after the death of various foraminifera. There are three species of living star sand in Penghu, namely wheel, sphericaldisc. The star sand collected by this center is from the coast of Wukan Village, Magong City. Due to the indiscriminate mining by people, the living star sand in the tide pool is on the verge of extinction. Thus, we urge all tourists to appreciate its beauty without taking it away, so that more people can appreciate its cutenessbeauty.
